THE PETITION - Families Campaign for Schools to recruit more Male Teachers.

Parents want more men to be school teachers
FRUS - We are still constructing this Campaign Page, many apologies for the delay.

There is a major shortfall of male teachers in our schools, for almost two decades successive goverments have failed to recruit more men into teaching.

Only 25% that's just 123,361 of 502,562 of registered teachers are men. (Vast majority working in secondary schools and further education.)

It’s extremely important that School are offering children a
education taught by a workforce that is representative of our diverse society, both in terms of gender and ethnic background.

28% or 4,700 primaries in England  are solely populated by women. (150 more than last year!)

Many children lack a stable male influence in the home. Evidence suggests that boys in particular will benefit enormously from positive male role models at school, both in terms of future behaviour and academic attainment – and research carried out by the Training and Development Agency for Schools shows that both pupils and parents want to see more male teachers in the classroom.

National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT), said: "Sadly, with the state of play with the numbers of single parent families, there is increasingly a need for a male role model for young people.
